Based on the hit TV show Robot Wars - Extreme Destruction lets you build and destroy the robot of your dreams in the Robot Wars Championship.

The games is nicely presented and offers two modes of play, Championship mode where you battle through the Robot Wars championship or arcade mode for some quick destructive fun where you simply pick your robot and inflict some damage.

When playing in Championship mode you get the choice to build your own robot. This mode of play will especially appeal to fans of the show who have always wanted to compete but don't have the expertise necessary.

When building your own robot you have a wide range of options available so you can build the ultimate killing machine. You can choose the chassis type, engine, wheels, armour, weapons and lots more as long as you stick to your budget.

Once you have finished your ultimate machine you can compete in the Robot Wars Championship, this is where the fun of the game really begins. The competition is set out similar to the show, starting out with a melee and then going onto head to head battles.

The game plays well, controls are simple and easy to get to grips with so you don't need to spend any real time learning them and can concentrate on causing some damage. Although the steering seemed a little over sensitive and we spent a lot of the time spinning in circles.

Battling other robots at first can seem a little daunting as they all seemed to be considerably more powerful then our tiny robot and we repeatedly saw our fibre glass armour easily ripped to shreds, but once you find the weakness of the robot your battling you should be okay or you could simply push them towards the mighty house robots!

Graphics wise Robot Wars - Extreme Destruction's looks great! The TV studio arena has been accurately recreated. House robots look amazing and fans of the show will instantly recognise some of the contestant's robots such as Panic Attack that have competed in the TV show. The game also features a great damage system that will see armour become damaged or even ripped off. If you take to much damage your engine may begin to smoke and if like us you stop in the wrong place you may find yourself on fire. Sound within the game is also very good and it uses lots of effects from the show, including an over excitable commentator although he does seem to trail behind the action a little.

Overall Robot Wars - Extreme Destruction offers a fun and addictive game with lots of replay value and is a definite must have for Robot Wars fans.
