Following up from Game Party that was released earlier this year, More Game Party promised to be bigger and better than its predecessor, but so soon after the original you have to ask can this follow-up really bring more to the party?

Sadly no it doesn’t the game sees the seven original games return with very little difference between the versions that were included in the original game. There are five new mini games these include Lawn Darts, Horse Shoes, Bean Bags, Puck Bowling and Quarterback challenge. However all the new games with the exception of Quarterback challenge have you doing pretty much the same thing giving the games controls a very generic feel. They also feel very similar to the controls that are used for some of the games that were included in the original game pulling them ever deeper into the generic pool that More Game Party seems to be!

The games interface also seems to have been simplified to the point that it has become dull, gone is the lounge that the various characters would loiter around in and in its place is a white background that you scroll across to select your character. The token system that allows you to unlock new playing areas, characters and variations of the mini-games now requires you to create a profile with a custom created character from a very limited pool of options.

Other new features in More Game Party is a Tournament mode that allows you to create custom competitions for up to sixteen players on the one console, however if you have time to compete in one of these tournaments, then you have too much on your hands as the games are pretty slow paced and most only allow one player to take part requiring you to pass the Wii remote amongst the players in turn.

After fairly enjoying the original Game Party I can’t help feeling a little disappointed by this new version as it demonstrates a very real lack of innovation with the new games that have been added as they all feel too similar to each other to be worthwhile additions.

Visually the games interface has definitely taken a step backwards as mentioned above, whilst the games playing areas are pretty much reworked versions of the ones featured in the first game. The game is still bright and colourful and should appeal to the younger gamer but in no way does it build on the first game. Sound in More Game Party is pretty much what you would expect from a mini game compilation and yes you’ve guessed it its the same as was featured in the original game.

I can’t help feel disappointed by More Game Party, the game just seems to scream rehash every where. The new games all feel the same and more or less are. If you bought the original stick with it as there’s not really anything new here that’s’ worth shelling out more cash less then a year on!
