Giant mech space shooter, Project AETHER: First Contact has been released on Steam today by developer Sleepy Spider Studio.

The retro styled shoot-em set across 9 levels see an alien threat invade the solar system. You must take control of a giant prototype mech, code named Project AETHER. You will be able to customise your mech with a choice of ranged weapons and a melee sabre as you battle through swarms of enemies and take part in fights against powerful bosses.

"We're very proud of our work on Project AETHER. Our goal was to provide a fast-paced and fluid game experience, and we feel we've delivered on that in a way that players will find very satisfying." said Sleepy Spider Studios' Ryan Shim. "We want to reward constant mobility and quick reflexes to keep up the game's momentum."

Project AETHER will be available on Steam today, priced $12.99 /£10.29 /€10.79. A discount of 15% will be available to celebrate the games launch.
